Google Caffeine Sandbox Closed

Those of you who have been testing the Google Caffeine technology using the sandbox feature to compare the new search technology with the current system, you can’t play in the sandbox any more!  Some will be heart broken.

When you visit the Caffeine Sandbox you now see this message:

We appreciate all the feedback from people who searched on our Caffeine sandbox.

Based on the success we’ve seen, we believe Caffeine is ready for a larger audience. Soon we will activate Caffeine more widely, beginning with one data center. This sandbox is no longer necessary and has been retired, but we appreciate the testing and positive input that webmasters and publishers have given.

So it looks like Google will be implementing the Caffeine technology very soon.  I had been doing testing on the Caffeine technology and the good news is that my work did not decrease in position but in many cases saw an increase.

Some have suggested that sites with strong linking strategies and title tags as well as good content relevance will be rewarded in Google Caffeine.   Time will tell but since I’m a content SEO advocate, I would say that it is a path that dealers should pursue.

Google Caffeine

Are you wondering how SEO strategies will be affected by the new Google Caffeine technology?

As we ready for the release of Google Caffeine, SEO consultants have been following the comments from testers from around the world.  On Google’s blog, the initial Google Caffeine press release, has resulted in over 200 comments to date.

A great article by Ben Parr showed some initial test results that concluded that Google Caffeine is fast and produces more relevant search results pages.

Matt Cutts from Google also discusses the Google Caffeine Update.  If you have not followed Matt’s blog I recommend that you do and some should consider just following his RSS feed.

Bing and Google Caffeine

Bing has been on an advertising roll lately poking fun at how much “clutter” is in search engine result pages.  Not naming Google specifically, Microsoft’s Bing advertisements hint that Bing produces cleaner and more relevant results.

When Caffeine rolls out, it may make that ad campaign obsolete.  I have been enjoying Bing, when I occasionally test our SEO strategies, but the logic behind their SERP’s is very different from Google.  Special optimization strategies need to be directed toward top rankings in Bing.  Never a dull a moment.

Google Caffeine SEO

We are actually very happy to hear that Google is upping the bar for SERP and of course we will be testing how Google Caffeine affects our SEO strategies.  We have done a few tests using the Caffeine sandbox tool located at: http://www2.sandbox.google.com

Some of the search phrases we have tested, that we have targeted for ourselves  or for our automotive clients are shown below:

Phrase Google Google Caffeine
automotive seo Page 1 Position 1 Page 1 Position 1
nj seo company Page 1 Position 1 Page 1 Position 1
ford massachusetts Page 1 Position 2 Page 1 Position 1
infiniti warranty Page 1 Position 3 Page 1 Position 3
long island jeep Page 1 Position 6 Page 1 Position 6
boston bmw lease Page 1 Position 2 Page 1 Position 2
nj caterers Page 1 Position 2 Page 1 Position 4

Testing Google Caffeine

From what we can see, just looking at SERP results is not what makes Google Caffeine different.  I think that quality content and quality links will be more rewarded in Google Caffeine.  When Google Caffeine is released into production, we predict that our content rich microsite models will be lifted.

Our Automotive SEO clients will be doubly rewarded because of our network of high ranking automotive blogs and websites.
