2011 Fisker Karma – Sustainable Luxury

The Fisker Karma has an electric range of about 50 miles on a full charge, after that an on board gas engine and generator kicks in. Fisker Karma may be taken home in one of three ways – EcoStandard, EcoSport, and EcoChic. The EcoStandard is the base model. With each increased option customers receive increased choices of color – both interior and exterior, they also get increased “Eco” materials. For example, standard materials include 100% Recycled post industry virgin polyester Premium EcoSuede interior (EcoChic), and hand-wrapped, premium leather from 100% sustainable processing plant (EcoSport).

The Fisker Karma definitely keeps up with its ideal of environmental focus. Sustainable materials such as wood harvested from forest fires in California and at the bottom of Lake Michigan are used. The leatherette comes from renewable plants operated by the byproducts of the (leather) production process. However, you don’t have to choose the leatherette. When the Fisker Karma uses both the battery-powered engine and generator together, an astounding 403 hp and 981 lb.-ft. of torque is achieved. Able to go 0-60 in 7.9 seconds in Stealth mode, Sports mode will take you 0-60 in 5.9 seconds.

The 2011 Fisker Karma is also said to be able to fully charge in 6 hours using a 120v or 240v battery with the highest voltage and current – pretty impressive.
